As the Bible declares “In the Beginning, God created Heaven and Earth…” (Genesis 1:1), it was telling us that God Almighty was the Sovereign Agency in control of all things in the physical realm as well as in the spiritual realm. It assured us that God had created all the “Building Blocks” that would be used in the formation of Creation.
Yes, parts of this new creation were in chaos, they were “formless and void” (Genesis 1:2). And yet, God, as Architect, would place them according to the Divine Mind into perfect alignment to His plan, even to the crescendo of His supreme creation: man. And then, He would breathe life into His Creation, as Sovereign of the metaphysical as well.
By divine fiat God created the molecules, and atoms, and forces from which the universal beauty would emanate. He created the binders, and gravity, and radioactivity which would hold the realm in tension. Subsequent to this declaration He would fit these elements, these “Building Blocks” into the patterns and forms which would most glorify Himself.
Genesis proceeds to communicate to us the very clear components of His perfection one day at a time. There was light, and water, and earth, and vegetation, and cosmological illumination, and sea life, and birds, and living creatures, and man!
When God declared each step as “Good!”, it was an affirmation that His design was perfect! It didn’t need to evolve, and it didn’t need to be changed, modified, adapted, altered, or improved.
“The heavens are telling of the glory of God;
And their expanse is declaring the work of His hands.” (Psalm 19:1).
Every step exuded the glory of God!
Mankind would be formed in the image of God, the Imago Dei. They would exist in binary genders: male and female (Genesis 1:27). They would cohabitate in the blessed union of marriage, one to another. Offspring would be sprung according to His design. All to glorify Himself.
So, when we challenge God as Author, when we defy His plan, when we seek to question it, modify it, or wreck it, we intentionally seek to do damage to that Creation which was perfectly designed and formed to perfectly glorify God in its existence.
When we contest the existence of God, when we dispute the origin of Man, we seek to erode the glory of God, when we deny the institution of holy marriage, we choose a format which dishonors God. When we challenge the Male/Female component of marriage, we intentionally seek to deny and change God’s good order–as though He didn’t get it right the first time. The initial “design” was not deficient, it never needed to be fixed, leastwise by human agents–broken human agents at that.
Yes, sin altered the beauty and perfection of Creation, but that was certainly not an improvement of the original design. Still, in time, God will bring that around full circle to a restored Creation. No human agency, intervention, or ingenuity will be able to restore that which was broken in the Fall.
The present movements at work to resist God’s good order, to break down the nuclear family, binary covenantal marriage, and definition of “life,” do so to their own peril. Yet, they would insist they do this out of greater, superior enlightenment; Scripture makes it clear that such actions of arrogance only serve to reveal the brokenness of man.
“The fool has said in his heart, ‘There is no God,’
They are corrupt, and have committed abominable injustice;
There is no one who does good” (Psalm 53:1).
Sure, I know that defiant man has been at this since the Garden, but when the primary objective is the eradication of God and His greatest order, it is then that one should examine wherein they are comfortable spending eternity.
From very shortly after the beginning, man has sought to take control and reform God’s perfect order. Satan convinced Eve that she would be like God. The Greek philosophers thought they had a superior understanding of life and whatnot. The Gnostics in the second century were certain they had a higher knowledge of life. The cognoscenti of the 18th Century considered themselves to be in the know and hailed themselves superior to the masses. The enlightenment promised a breakthrough to the mysteries of life. Moderns of the 19th Century insisted the prehistoric wisdom to be outdated. And the arrogance of the 20th Century promised no understanding, well, no certain understanding of anything.
And yet, the self-perceived “woke” come along and once again offer a new and improved snake oil for the unsuspecting, unwise masses. They consider themselves to be “woke.” I guess am still considered to be “not woke,” “ignorant,” “broke,” or sleeping, though I would contend that I am only resting… still resting in His good, and perfect order.
He got it right the first time!
