As we continue to look at key verses of Scripture regarding Scripture, Psalm 1 reminds us of the blessing which is found in the Word of God:

Blessed is the man
who walks not in the counsel of the wicked,
nor stands in the way of sinners,
nor sits in the seat of scoffers;
but his delight is in the law of the LORD,
and on his law he meditates day and night.
He is like a tree
planted by streams of water
that yields its fruit in its season,
and its leaf does not wither.
In all that he does, he prospers
 (Psalm 1:1-3).

Again, we are reminded of the importance of paths, paths leading to destruction, and the path which leads straight to the throne of God. The Law, the instruction of God becomes our delight the more we resonate in it, as it roots us in His will.

Certainly, secular worldview, the worldly wisdom is discounted in light of God’s instruction. In addition, the Word, reflected upon, yields the fruit of Godly maturity. Therefore, indifference to the Scriptures is an unhealthy benchmark of one claiming to be a follower of Christ.

One has only to reflect upon this psalm in order to understand the rootedness of being planted near a water source. The picture here is one of health and stability as a person is surrounded by God’s counsel and favor. Roots that have sunk deep into the fertile soil, nourished and watered are secure.

A Special Note:
Hello, I want to thank you for your interest and support of TheShepherdsPen. In light of today’s political climate, and unstable social media, may I  ask you to consider subscribing (click here to go to the subscribing page) to TheShepherdsPen.Com to ensure we don’t lose touch? In doing so, normally, you could expect two emails a week from me, one on Saturday, and an “Echo” on Wednesday. I know you have all kinds of things flooding your email boxes, and your time is valuable, so I do thank you for walking a portion of the journey together.

Thanks, Kelly
